  • The Trials Park looks great in the mid-morning sun, complete with pine needles scattered across the boards. It was designed and hand built by David Robinson, Neville Potts and Ian Bell, with support from their respective business', Jackson's Sawmill of Hexham, and The Bike Place
  • KTR Treasurer Robert Primrose, and Forestry Commission's Alex MacLennan walk the plotted route for what will become Ant's Path - a short section that has been built mainly on mid-week evening builds. All done by hand, including some extreme rock carrying that even the world's strongest men would be proud of! Ant's Path is officially unofficial. Find it if you can (it's not particularly well hidden!)
  • If you don't ask, you don't get! We were very pleased to receive 3 rolls of geotextile from Terram, for use on the Capon Hassock project. It helps keep the trail from sinking into the soft ground, which is a problem we have to overcome on a regular basis in Kielder Forest. Thank you Terram!
  • Early days for KTR, back in 2006, this was the planning phase for Into The Valley, on the Deadwater Trail. Mobile phones weren't very good for taking photos back then!
  • The Deadwater Trail gets a favourable review from trail master Russell Burton, in the July 2009 edition of MBUK

terram-logo-2013Waking up to a bright crisp morning….it was time to put to the test the promise made by my young cub, Alex, that he would be joining me today for his first ever ( and my first for a good while! ) trail build.  Seems like Dave Tasker …had unknown to anyone….also been able to bribe / cajole / blackmail his own son, Nick into coming too….totally spooky man!

Winter Warmer 2013 - Report

The Winter Warmer certainly lived up to its name with temperatures barely getting above 2°C. A field of 50 riders lining up at the start with 42 completing the race.  Local rider Tony Glover, from Hexham winning with an overall time of 2hrs 41mins -  congratulations.

Commiserations to Ian Strodder who travelled all the way from Douglas, IOM,  only to have his fork explode before the race started, but after a bodge repair still took part and did a couple of laps - such perseverance should be applauded. As usual punctures played their part affecting Ray Honour's race and dropping him a few places.  To all those brave enough to attempt riding the ford - well done, and Ian Gibson should of got a prize as he was the only one to clean it and he did it twice.

Congratulations to all who took part and we hope to see you all at the Border Raid on 11th May.  On-line registration is open now.
